About Me, I'm Ready for My Close-Up

Quick Hit: Don’t Be The Blender

I’ve been taking a class in Improv for the last couple of weeks.  I love the games, the freedom, the spontaneity – even if I do wonder – am I funny?  But in the end, it doesn’t matter because I am having FUN.

Last night we worked in groups and in one game we had to create a machine using our bodies, sounds, motions, etc.   I wasn’t thinking too clearly and when my group got “a blender” I decided to be the part that spins and chops things into bits.  BIG MISTAKE.

Who gets motion sick?  Me.

Annnnd….who got motion sick in the middle of class after “pureeing”?  Me.

I spent the rest of class alternating between hot flashes and cold sweats, moaning, and looking down at the floor while rubbing my temples.  Did I mention there was little to no air conditioning in the building?  Combine motion sickness with overheating and you have the perfect storm of agony.

The instructor must have been in secret sympathy.  She gave me a scene toward the end of class where the location was “on a cruise ship”.  Perfect!  I’ve got this covered.  No acting required.

What do you do when the “show must go on” even if you’re feeling sick?  I’d love to hear about your experiences in the comments!  Last night, I threw my quest for greatness to the winds and accepted that my C-game would have to be good enough, and life went on, the sky did not fall, and it was okay.

See you soon, readers!

About Me, Friends, I'm Ready for My Close-Up

Stream of Consciousness Sunday: Opa!

I went for a run today.  The first Day of Couch to 5k.  It really didn’t seem so bad.  I used the app on my work phone and it does a good job of easing you into things.  I got back and was hot and sweaty, but not nearly as winded as I imagined I would be.  Now, I just need to keep it up for the next few weeks and I’ll be well on my way to being a pseudo-runner.  Haha…we’ll see how that goes…

We took the in-laws out to see the Avengers at one of those dine and watch theaters today.  They are SUPER spoiled, but it’s our fault for introducing them to the dining theaters in the first place.  This kind of theater is the only one they want to go to now.

Last night we went out with some friends to a Greek restaurant for “theme night” and then invited everyone to the house.  We like to pick a theme and go eat and watch a movie or play a game or something that ties in with the theme.  I tried my best to dance with the belly dancer, but it was so awkward.  I had to laugh (and I’m sure lots of other people were too) because while I’m not a bad dancer, and in fact have been a good dancer in a previous life, I am NOT a belly dancer.  These hips do not move like that!

Sadly, two of the friends we went out with will be leaving soon to move to a new state.  My husband’s friend is in the military and getting reassigned.  I guess this was kind of like a farewell party for them as I’m not sure we’ll have too many more chances to go out with them before the move.

Tomorrow, I look forward to shooting another scene for the short film I’m acting in.  The cast and crew so far have been SO super.  Fun.  Professional.  Amazing.

That’s all for today, folks!

Stream of Consciousness Sunday: Too Tired

I’m feeling a bit tired and overwhelmed right now.  Almost went off to bed without writing a post because I just took an allergy pill and they make me so tired I can’t think straight. Especially, the good ones with the D that you have to actually get from behind the prescription counter. That’s right, the ones that make you feel like a criminal when you buy them.

And, heaven forbid you should try to buy more than one box of them.

Why do I need allergy pills you may ask?  Why, thank you for asking.  Today, was put the Christmas tree away and get the boxes up into the attic day.  For some reason, it was also hubby decides to clean out the shed day.  He did 95% of the work, but I did assist in getting all the junk to the curb after he had gone through and pared things down.  I’m so proud!

However, due to all the moving around of things and bringing dusty things like the Christmas bins into the house I am completely unable to breathe without pills.

Also, I’m happy to announce that my blog has its first stalker.  Someone I know in real life that is pure trouble.  Mr. B. you know I’m talking about you.  I’m on the fence about whether to be flattered or scared.  I’m leaning toward flattered, so, thanks Mr. B!  Keep reading and sharing.

Last, but not least, trying to slog my way through my certifications for tax prep season.  Not really feeling it right now and yet I’ve forced myself and managed to finish 80% of it so far.

Also, just got an email from a guy I’m hoping to work with on a fun acting project.  There’s a chance I will be working with a well-known local B-actor.  Pretty groovy stuff.  I’m hoping it all pans out.

That’s all she wrote.
